The classic Comey flight suit came marble-dyed, for instance, and materials from previous seasons were patch-worked together to make a pair of easy going not-quite-prairie dresses. Texture was a big story here. If there is a second wave lockdown, it will be made a soupcon pleasanter by fuzzy brushed alpaca knits or a squishy fringed wrap. Comfiness was key in other ways too, especially in Comey’s preference for baggier shapes. Nothing in this collection looked tight or binding, but there were some sharp ensembles, like the matching ikat print top and pant. In a true sign o’ the times, one of the standout pieces was Comey’s lace balaclava, a truly chic alternative to the de rigueur mask. Here’s hoping that item soon becomes superfluous; the most winning quality of this Comey collection is that nothing else here ever will.
