They have to pay taxes, pensions, insurances, training and pay office staff out of profits. They can only charge the council a certain amount as the council have very little funding. It is very frustrating that I am only paid just above minimum wage and the same as those without qualifications! Things need to change to great quality care! Olivia Brraine ,if its a Council run home and the staff are paid by the Council they do get more .You are talking about private care providers .Looking at the adverts for jobs quite a few of them are higher than the present minimum wage. Sandra Wilson exactly, too many are ignorant of that. They only look at the headline.
